Gearing up for Masters/PhD in Computer Science - 3 Basics you need to know (Part4)

Moving from your 2nd hour, the suggestion to what you could do in your last hour is as follows :

3rd Hour - Programming

Many people dislike programming and I am not a code-junkie myself but in computer science you need to know basic programming at least, as it helps you to translate your ideas into something tangible.

You need to learn at least one programming language. Don't have the impression that if you learn more languages its good. I feel its not how many languages that you know that matters  but how proficient you are in a language to express your ideas.

Being an expert in a language is not easy. I had read somewhere "Learn language X in 7 days or 21 days" is all bullshit. And to be an expert in a programming language at least to some acceptable level would take you at least 10 years.

But we are not talking on being expert in something right away before you start your course. Expertise will come when you constantly are in touch with programming.

Suggested Materials/References: I just want to give you a start There are hundreds of stuff online but what I personally like as a good refresher is

You can go about learning by python as well. As python is more easier than C but as you already have done programming in C you can as well stick on to it :)

To conclude, I congratulate you again for have taken your first step to master or research in the area of Computer Science.

Hope my posts were of some help to you and wishing you the best ahead :)
